security - rules for connections- for administrators only

  1. yesterday I've accessed remotely my home pc
  2. set the rule for connections to administrators only
  3. today i cannot access my home pc, message: you are not in the allow-list etc.

Is there anyway to change yesterdays setting in my home pc remotely? (via the web may be?)

    Hi Aris,

Welcome to our Community. I hope I will be able to help you, however - can you explain what setting you made yesterday explicitly?

Where do you put the rule exactly? Can you maybe send a screenshot from your device within the setting so that we are talking about the same thing?

    Thanks, Esther

    1. I'm away from home.
    2. I have set unattended access in my laptop and in my home pc.
    3. Away from home I use my laptop.
    4. Yesterday I've accessed my home pc from my laptop
    5. on the teamviewer of the distant pc my home pc, I open security - rules for connections to this computer and set the "windows logon" to administrators only.
    6. then I click on the block and allowlist partners and click on the name that appeared (My user ID) Aris 53m
    7. today when i Tried to access my home pc, the message i got was "you are not on the allowlist"

Is there any way to fix this remotely?

    Regards, Aris.

Ok - thanks for the explanation!

First thing to check: Are you logged in with the account Aris 53 m on your current computer? Because the remote device will check your "identity" and only allow this account to make a connection.

Also, you need to be a Windows admin on the remote device and login with the Windows credentials instead of the "normal" TeamViewer connection method.

    For this:

1.) Type in the remote ID and click Connect

2.) Click on Advanced and choose Windows under Authentication

3.) Type in the Admin credentials for the remote device and click Log On.

    That should be the solution.

    Thanks,

    Esther

ok, here is a couple more things.

    1. on my home pc (The remote pc) I'm logged as an admin and my teamviewer account is Aris 53m/passwordA with a certain email account.
    2. on my laptop I'm logged as an admin and my teamviewer account is Aris 53m/passwordA (ie same password) with another email account.
    3. I cannot connect to my home pc, where do i find "authentication"? to set it to windows?

    Regards, Aris.

Sorry - I think I did not actually explain how to perform a Windows Authentication via TeamViewer.

👉Instead of the TeamViewer authentication using TeamViewer ID and password, you can also authenticate with username and password of your Windows account.

How to connect using Windows Authentication:

    1. Start TeamViewer on your computer.
    2. Type in the remote TeamViewer ID in the field Partner ID
    3. Click on Connect.

The TeamViewer authentication dialogue will open:

    1. Click on Advanced. The dialogue displays advanced settings.
    2. In the drop-down field, set the authentication method to Windows.
    3. Enter your Windows (Admin) login, the domain (if used) and the Windows password.
    4. Click on Log On.

We have this article that explains the steps pretty well too: Control UAC during a TeamViewer connection - TeamViewer Support

    but this is not possible.

    1. i have unattended access set ups
    2. when i type connect the first thing i get is "you are not on the allowlist" (I think the procedure you've described is something to do IF there is an actual connection, right?)
    3. Yesterday before the change i made was working like a charm.

Can you verify you are logged in with the correct account on your local device?

    Hey @Aris53m ,

I tried to reproduce the issue on my machines but it worked as intended.

    1. Assign the remote device to my account
    2. Set up unattended access (easy access) + allowlist and enter my TeamViewer account
    3. Activate Windows authentication (although that shouldn't be needed because TeamViewer will use the TeamViewer authentication by default if easy access is activated)
    4. Connect to the remote device

    --> connection established

For my second test I did the following:

    1. revoke easy access
    2. Connect to the remote device -> Asked for authentication
    3. Connect via ID + Password
    4. Connection established

    Third test

    1. (easy access still revoked)
    2. Connect to the remote device -> Asked for authentication -> Switch authentication method to Windows
    3. Connect via Windows Administrator Account
    4. Connection established

So in general it should work like this.

Something you can definitely check is if you're logged in with the account that was whitelisted on the remote side.

Let us know if any of that worked for you :)

    Best regards,

    Benjamin

    Hi again Aris,

Once again regarding the account: Are you logged in?

If yes, I wonder whether you maybe added this account to the blocklist instead of the allowlist.

    Is that possible?

    Thanks, Esther

    hi Eshther

May i was not clear to you and Benjamin to what I was looking for.

I was trying to undo REMOTELY a stupid set up I did which was blocking me to have remote access (on unattended mode).

I solved the problem by sending someone to my (remote) home to change the incorrect setting.

Everything is back to normal again.

As a suggestion and since Teamviewer is an excellent s/w for what it does I would suggest to have a back up plan for similar cases. (May be a web interface where someone can do a reset or something).

Anyways, you;ve tried your best and I've appreciated it.

    Regards, Aris.
