Forgotten Password w/ MFA enabled

So, I'm totally stuck! I have an account established (for several years) and secured it with MFA (I believe I used the Microsoft authenticator app). I've gotten a new laptop and installing TeamViewer on it and when going to enter the MFA code, I realize that I don't have Teamviewer showing up in Authenticator on my iPhone anymore. No problem - I figured I'd just use my web browser to login to my account and get the QR code to add it back. (you probably know where I'm going with this....). Of course I can't get into my account w/o the MFA code even when trying to remove MFA it asks for a security code which I've long since lost.

So I thought I'd resort to the community to ask for some help... of course you have to be logged in to post anything! Seriously? So I created a new second account just to post this question... I'd really like to get back to my original account and MFA... any advice how to reset it all?

    Hi @WaywardWalker,

Thank you for reaching out to us and we appreciated that you have created a new TeamViewer account in order to post in the Community!

For your case, there are 2 options.

If you own a professional TeamViewer license:

If you are using the free version of TeamViewer:

    • You can request the deletion of your TeamViewer account by writing an email to privacy@teamviewer.com.
    • As soon as the account is deleted by our dedicated team, you will be able to create the TeamViewer with this same email address.

📌Please understand that MFA can not be deactivated by TeamViewer, and losing your recovery key will result in losing access to your TeamViewer account. Additionally, the TeamViewer Community uses the same TeamViewer account as you would use to log in to the Management Console or the TeamViewer application. Therefore, it affects all logins including TeamViewer Community.

💡If you are planning to enable MFA on your TeamViewer account again, please know that we, TeamViewer, advise all users who use this feature to keep the recovery code in a secure place and print more than one copy of the recovery code.

    Hope you find this helpful.

If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to ask them in the Community!
