Slow on Server 2008 R2

Teamviewer connections to Windows Server 2008R2 are exteremely slow, with a lag time of 15 seconds or more between mouse click and response. However, if I make a Teamviewer connection to a workstation on the network and then VNC into the server, the response is instantaneous. Any idea why this is happening?

    Turning off video hardware acceleration seems to have solved the problem.
