Just wanted to pass on some information I learned using TeamViewer version 15, 32-bit free version.
I have an old laptop Samsung Series 7 Gamer, NVidia 675M video, came with Windows 8. It currently runs latest version of Windows 10 Pro.
My issue was every time I remotely login to this computer I eventually see a blank screen. I would simply toggle the Hide Wallpaper under View tab and desktop would reappear. Sometimes desktop disappeared again when I would run a program requiring admin privileges. When Start button was selected, icons and names in the list became a very small font. The final and most annoying issue was when I entered Windows setting. One example is going Apps &Features, on this page one would remove apps. My computer would not scroll down, I could see the side bar move down the screen, but page will not change.
The computer was setup to run 24/7 and never turn off, screen video set to never turn off, Sleep turned off, and any other power feature to save energy turned off. Most importantly I set screen to remain on when lid of laptop was closed.
When troubleshooting I updated, clean install, changed video drivers and change multiple settings in windows. I was at wits end, ready to ask for help. When physically at the remote computer I tried more changes to settings and nothing appeared to be wrong with the computer. I leave the state and try remote access, BANG everything worked normal. I am happy for a few days and then problems start again. Really bummed, I started thinking and asked a person at the remote computer if changes where made. I was told no changes were made only that lid of Laptop was closed because it annoyed someone nearby.
I now have the person at the remote location open the lid of the laptop a couple of inches. Next time I access remote computer all is working as it should again. It appears closing the lid on this particular computer confused TeamViewer. Options in settings have been setup so with the lid is closed nothing was to happen. Apparently, there is another option I missed, or computer has a glitch that always turns off display when closed (well maybe not a glitch as that seems normal).
Just as a note, I have been using TeamViewer since version 11 to maintain family computers. Early versions never presented this problem, I think it started after version 13.
As I said above simply leaving the laptop lid open solved all my problems. I have no idea why and it seems weird, but I can live with it.
Hope this helps someone seeing the same issue. Moderators feel free to move to another section if needed.
Later,
Jetaray
