Can free users use Teamviewer on Windows XP?

Hi, can free users still use Teamviewer on Windows XP?

I want to remotely control my friend's PC, but he's running Windows XP.

This worked fine for years, but something seems to have changed & now it seems both remote & local computers for free users always need the latest version of Teamviewer to run, but the latest version won't run on XP. Thanks.

    If you are using the free version, you must update your TeamViewer clients to the latest version.

    Note: If your hardware is not compatible with the latest version, there is nothing we can do to make the free version work. We thank you in advance for your understanding.

    As Windows XP does not support the latest TeamViewer version, using the free version won't be working in this scenario.
