"Design" with TeamViewer Host and external access

Hello, everyone!

We have installed the Windows Host on various devices (Windows 10, Windows Server) and have it under control with policies.

For individual devices, I cannot assign the policies, as they seem to be “allocated to someone else.” Here I assume, do I need to reinstall TeamViewer?

Now to my actual question: I have installed TeamViewer Host on all devices and assigned it to my account (so that I can share these with other employees). Sometimes the easy access is configured, sometimes not.

Now I want to create a login for an external partner with ID/password only. Is it best if I create a new password via the settings on the host?

Or what do you recommend for this setup?

Thank you in advance for your time & greetings

    Hello @jeromebueh

You can only apply a policy using the account that received the “account assignment” on the Host.

If you are using a Customized Host, the account that created the Host will be the one with the account assignment. If you want to manually change it on the Host, you can click on the gear > general > remove the current account assignment, and do the account assignment again with the correct account (if there is security polices blocking it to be edit, you will need to change the polices first to then be able to manually change the account assignment. Uninstalling the Host removing all settings to reinstall a new Host is also possible solution).

If after sharing a group, if some users are having difficulties connecting through easy access, try to re do the group sharing, it should fix the problem.

  • Re: Assigning and enabling Easy Access. You can do this through a command line on each machine using your API key. No need to re-install.

Re: External partner access. You can either share the contacts with them via Management Console, then they don't need a password, but I'd suggest making sure your options screen is password protected. If you want to use ID Password, you can set that up via the 'Additional passwords' link under security.
