Changing the login name used to load Teamviewer

I'm supporting a customer who has a licensed version of Teamviewer on Ubuntu and they used a login name which I would like to switch so that all applications are running under the same login name. Is that possible? And if so, can I make the change? I have sudo access to the server in question, and already created the new login name and added it to the sudoers group.
When I then selected "Switch User" from the UI, intending to login with the new account, it brought me out to the login panel, but did not present the login name & password prompts. I'm presuming that's because I logged out of the login name associated with Teamviewer. I had to request the customer reboot the server to regain access via Teamviewer.
Any advice would be appreciated.
