Files from Requesters are coming in as Corrupted

We have noticed recently that files from requesters are coming in as corrupted when we open them. This is mainly affecting Excel documents as they come through unrepairable. Word and Powerpoint files are still coming corrupted, but I have managed to repair them.
Could someone point me in the right direction of how to solve this please?
