Scaling 1080p remote desktop in a 5k monitor

I'm trying to access my home computer that has two 1080p monitor from an iMac that has a 5k display. I can connect to the remote computer, but if I go full-screen it doesn't scale, and I get a black border around the screen. How can I make my remote screen scale up and use all the space available?

This is really a big problem for people who have 4k or 5k screens. Why is it that scaling to smaller size works, but the scaling stops to 100% when going upwards.

I have a 4k Monitor and I am doing remote support to customers who mostly have 1080p or 1440p resolutions. On a 4k monitor 1080p is only 1/4 of the resolution of my monitor, so the text is very small. Why is it that if I make the remote window smaller on my screen the remote view scales to a smaller size but when going upwards it stops to that 100% aka 1/4th of my screen?

I can not make the customers resolution to a higher setting than their monitor allows.
