Commercial use - Connection time out

  • I use TeamViewer to remotely fix my elderly parents computer and nothing else and now it claims I'm using it for commercial usage. As stated I only use it to connect to one computer and now I'm unable to assist my parents the way I used to.

I'm all of a sudden receiving a time out error message. Using the free TeamViewer for person use. Windows version. Is free, no longer free?

I'm not a commercial user. I'm using teamviewer free to connect to my home pc while on holiday. I also use it to troubleshoot IT issues for my dad and stepmum who are overseas.

these timeout issues make it impossible to manage my home machine or help them with their issues.

please correct whatever you've flagged on my account that is causing these timeouts to occur

    thank you

I didn't face this issue earlier and I barely use Teamviewer but after months of not using it, I decided to connect it today to my family member's laptop and it constantly disconnected the connection and the error msg showed up "non-personal usage, Subscribe". There are only 2 computers I remotely connect with and both are close family members. How do you claim it as a commercial usage? Please advice how to fix it. Thanks!

  • I have this problem too.

  • Hello. I have been using the software as personal use (free version), but lately, its closing itself and claiming that I need to upgrade due to commercial use.
I only use it to access my own laptop at my dorm.

Is anything I can do? I guess only options are now either stop using it, or upgrade (which i find too expensive for my use)

  • I have the same situation. I use TeamViewer for personal use only to access my computer remotely and help friends who are not as computer literate as me. I've used TV for over a decade with no problems. But after upgrading MacOS to Sequoia recently I keep getting the message pop telling me I am using TV in a commercial situation. I have put in several requests to have the free account restored and while the account says it is free I keep getting the popup. I have just been trying to help a friend who has just got his first Mac and can't connect to him!

  • I was doing well with Teamviewer, including mirroring my phone's screen to my PC via TeamViewer and the other way round. However today I kept experiencing "Session Timeout" upon 5 minutes of connection and was not allowed to reconnect for few minutes. I could kept the connection for hours before, hence asking is it because of TeamViewer had changed the policies such that free users can only have 5 minutes of session time, or something was wrong?? Thanks in advance.

  • Hello everybody,

A couple of days ago, the system starte to categorize me as a professional user, which I am not. This severely limits my connection time. How should how I get back to my "free" status, which is my TRUE status. I limit my connections to ones between my four personal computers.

I thank you for your help,

    Jean-Pierre

    Hello,

  • Currently use TeamViewer under a free license to remotely access my PC and to help friends. Recently usage has been limited to a small time period and been requested to upgrade to a business plan. I like TeamViewer but will be investigating other alternatives. Need TeamViewer account reset to personal use but do not know how to make that happen.

  • Teamviewer is only letting me be in it for 5 minutes before telling me to buy a commercial license, I dealt with this before, can someone part of the team please remove this, I am not using it for commercial use, I help my friends at time since I am more tech-savvy.

I've always used Teamviewer for a long time, purely privately, NOT commercially, to help old friends with computer problems.
Suddenly I have this message and a time limit!

What can I do so that I can continue to help my old friends with computer problems free of charge!

Now I send you my request via → Reset-Management - TeamViewer

I have quite the same problem by assisting my 86 old teacher from primary school free of charge of course!
I mean she taught me how to read and write and I want to return the favour.
I get a message "maximum wait until 09:44" so I waited until 09:55 but now the message is "wait until 09:56" and this is just going on and on, hmmm.
Please help us with this, my company [removed per Community Guidelines] is paying you a lot so my private account should be fine for sure. Thank you.

Got this again a few days ago. I had this issue a few yrs. ago and have NEVER used this for any commercial use. I use this to remote into my person pc when away from home sometimes and also to help my brother and mom on their pc's or phone. Last time i was able to submit a ticket but i guess that has changed now

Yes, I confirm it. I think its the latest version issue. I only help my mom and son. No solution works (reinstalling). I didnt try downgrading yet.

  • Very similar issue on my end. Using TeamViewer free to help my father (89!) deal with occasional computer/internet related issues. I only need to access his computer. Everything worked fine until I updated to Sequoia (15.0) on a MacBook Air (M2 chip). I re-installed several times the latest free version of TeamViewer. I now get kicked out after less than 2 minutes of connection, with the only option to buy an upgrade. I cannot justify the expense. I do not need a full feature version of TeamViewer. Will TeamViewer continue to support a free version for users who are using MacOS 15.0? Or shall I consider an alternate app?

  • I've the same problem!! I use TV to connect with my daughter's laptop, and my father's laptop (84!). It's works fine for several years, but last week, without any update, dosen't work anymore.

I try to send an e-mail to support, but they replay to me that support email is only for pay account! They suggestet to sign in web with my account, and open a ticket here. I tryed to do it, but the page close after a few second, and tell me to engage with this forum.

I think that if exist a free version, We have the right to use it, otherwise thet can't advertise it…

  • I was trying to set up remote access between my personal phone and my personal laptop at home. I had a 2021 install of TV on my laptop, and just uninstalled it and replaced with the remote access install of TV.

When I opened the TV app on my phone and clicked connect, I got a message that the app had detected corporate use and it would disconnect in 5 minutes.

I believe this is due to the fact that I have my company account linked to Microsoft Authenticator on this phone. Company policy required me to register the Microsoft Authenticator app with my company tenant, so my best guess is that TV is picking that up. Note: I use Google Authenticator for my TV account, which does not have any company accounts on it.

Is there any way to get the app to stop identifying my phone as a corporate device? It is not managed directly.

  • I'm retired and use the free version to log into my computer from a hotel (usually). I keep getting logged out after 2 minutes and it says I'm trying to use it for business purposes? Any suggestions?

Same issue here. I use TW just to help my father (77 yo) and my mother (80 yo) to manage their PCs, and to transfer my files from PC to smartphone/tablet. Absolutely no commercial use, but i've been banned from using TW if i don't get a professional licence.

Again: is there a free TW license or do I have to switch to another solution?

    Hi all!

I have been using my TeamViewer FREE account successfully for over 10 years without any hassle or problems. Most of the time, i use TeamViewer to remote manage my main desktop computern (an iMac) from my cellphone or my notebook from WITHIN my HOME NETWORK. Very rarelly i connect from an outside network, and when i do, i usually use my cellphone 4G, and never a business or comercial network.

My problems started when my son begun to work as an IT Coordinator at this company, and based on my suggestion, purchased TeamViewer Business instead of **Third Party Product** to remote acess their servers from home.

Now my HOME NETWORK is being flagged as a business/comercial network by TeamViewer system, and i cant use my free account anymore!!

I have contacted TVW phone support a few times, but they dont seem to understand the problem! And all they do is offer me an additional paid license, but they never offer to fix the technical mistake their system is making!

Can someone please help me with suggestions on how to fix this?? Is there any support team in Germany that could analyze the logs and fix this??

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!
