Using usergroups to give an employee access to a device group

Hello,

we are an IT company with many customers. In our TeamViewer structure each customer has an own devicegroup and i have a usergroup for the staff. Now i want to give this usergroup access to all devicegroups, so i don't have to edit all device groups each time we get a new employee.

I created a role, then created a usergroup with this role and added all members of the team to this usergroup. After that I edited all groups and added the usergroup staff with full permissions. Now we got a new colleague and I added him to the usergroup staff but he cannot see the device group.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance and best regards

André

    Hi @andre-ipt,

We're happy to read your first post in our Community!

Thank you for sharing details about your TeamViewer structure. We reproduced the scenario you explained: create a role, create a user group, and add several members with full permissions.

When we tried to add a new member, in this case, my colleague, she couldn't see the device group straight away. However, after a restart of TeamViewer, she could see the device group with all the permissions from the role.

Did your new colleague restart TeamViewer after being added to the user group?

    • If not, we suggest adding them again to the user group and restarting TeamViewer services.
    • If yes, we suggest creating a test group with the same steps and checking if your new colleague can see the device group.

We can then determine if something is going on with the already-created device groups and roles.

Please share the results with us; we are curious about them!

    Best,

    Jen
