Hi for many years we have had an initial TeaViewer host installer pkg and with the correct API code enabled the group association/ assignment and the easy access enablement via a Jamf Pro nstall script we could connect to the Mac and start setup after install.
We would then moved it to the respective locational group and all the IT teams could manage it accordingly.

We have been migrating to the newer device groups and have decided to set it up and use the device grouping rather than the user groups via script.
I have created a new Host installer pkg and assigned it a new device group, but once installed it wont appear in associated device group?
Do I need to add something similar to the API code via a script from Jamf after install to move it although very odd.

It's odd that the Design & Deploy assignment policy requests which device group to assign it to etc but then doesn't add it to that group? Am I missing something. Thanks for any help.

all forms of managing/assigning devices require authorization on the device that's getting added. For a manual installation, this can mean that the user interactively authorizes the assignment in a dialog after installation. When rolling out the installer package via MDM, assignment can take place and be authorized through a script running as root after installation.

So if you want to roll out and assign TeamViewer Host using device groups, you will still need to run a small script after the package installation. However, you won't need to use a custom TeamViewer Host package (unless you require any of the other customization features).

All you need is a rollout configuration:

1. In the TeamViewer app (new interface), go to Admin Settings > Rollout-set-up.
   Or on the web, go to https://web.teamviewer.com/management-portal/organization/rollout-configuration.
2. Create a new configuration and choose the group and manager(s) for the Macs.
3. After saving, copy the assignment ID of the configuration from the menu with the three dots on the right side.

On the top of the Rollout-set-up page, you can download a zip file with installers and example scripts for rollout. Put the ID you copied into the ASSIGNMENT_ID configuration near the top of the postinstall_assign.sh script, save it, and have it run after the TeamViewer Host package installation.
