Hey everyone!
We’ve just rolled out an improved way to share devices and device groups directly from the Devices view in TeamViewer, and it’s all about making your daily workflows smoother, safer, and more familiar.
If you’ve ever shared a file or folder in Microsoft 365 using OneDrive, you’ll feel right at home. This updated sharing experience brings the same level of clarity, control, and ease of use to TeamViewer.
Why this matters (and why you’ll love it)
Sharing devices is something many of us do all the time, whether it’s with teammates, support engineers, or your wider IT operations group. With the new sharing workflow, you can now:
Get more transparency
See exactly who has access to which devices, all in one place. No more guessing, no more digging through roles.
Work faster
Sharing now takes just a few clicks. Pick users or user groups, choose the level of access, done!
Use familiar permission levels
Read-only? Read and write? Full control? Custom?
It works the same way you already know from sharing documents or folders in tools like Microsoft 365. Less learning = quicker adoption.
Keep access secure
With clear permission levels and an immediate overview of existing access, it’s easier than ever to maintain secure, well-structured device access.
Stay consistent across your organization
Admins and users share and manage devices the same way. No more separate workflows for different use cases.
How to share a device group (or single devices)
Here’s how the new workflow looks in practice:
- Open TeamViewer and go to Devices.
- Select the device group you want to share.
- Click Share.
- Select the users or groups you want to share with.
- You can pick multiple users at once
- Choose a permission level:
- Read only
- Read and write
- Full control
- Or Custom if you want to fine‑tune specific permissions
- Click Share to finish.
👀 You can also share individual devices using the exact same workflow, consistent and intuitive.
How to manage access later on
Need to update someone’s permissions? Or remove access completely? No problem.
- Open the shared device or group.
- Click the arrow next to Share → select Manage access.
- Review who currently has access.
- To adjust access:
- Select the user
- Choose a new permission level or modify custom permissions
- To remove access completely:
- Select the user
- Click Remove
This gives you a clean, central control panel for keeping access tidy and up‑to‑date.
