Do you ever find yourself opening TeamViewer to connect to the same device again and again? Here’s a small TeamViewer trick for Android devices that saves taps every single day:
You can add a home screen shortcut to a specific managed device. Connecting is just one tap away, like opening any other app.
What the home screen shortcut does
Instead of:
- Opening the TeamViewer app
- Searching your device list
- Tapping the right computer
You jump straight into the connection from your phone’s home screen.
Perfect for:
- Your work PC
- A family member’s computer
- A server or test device you access often
How to add a shortcut on your Android mobile
- Open the TeamViewer Remote app.
- Go to Devices.
- Click on the name of the managed device you want to create a shortcut for.
- Select Home Screen Shortcut.
- Confirm Add, and done!
You’ll now see a shortcut icon on your phone’s homescreen. Tap it to connect to your device.
Notes:
- The connection will need confirmation from the remote side before it can be established if the managed device is not configured.
- TeamViewer will prompt you to sign in as soon as you tap the home screen shortcut if you are not signed in.
Hint: During sign-in, select Keep me signed in to speed up the account authentication when connecting to your device.
A quick example
You’re out in a restaurant for lunch, and you can’t remember if you locked your device.
One tap on your home screen ➜ connected.
You can now enjoy your meal peacefully, without any further concerns. No scrolling. No searching. No friction.
Why you’ll love this
- Fewer taps, faster access
- Ideal for quick checks or urgent fixes
- Great when you’re in a hurry or on the go
- Streamlined access to your most-used device
