Messaging locked behind login

In previous versions of TeamViewer, I was able to send messages to the end users and have them respond, but it seems that in this latest version, end users are being asked to login to see their messages? This was great for asking when the end user was available for a sessions without jumping straight into a session.

Whilst we have licenses for our support team, we shouldn't need it for every computer we service. Has this feature changed as I could not find anything in release notes about this functionality.
