Commercial use - Connection time out
Comments
-
Hello, I've been using Team Viewer for many many years without issue on the same account. Suddenly, today, seemingly for no reason I got a notification that commercial use has been detected and I'm only able to have a 5 minute session. Is there a possibility to have it double check? I'm 100% sure my account got falsely flagged, I've never used it for anything commercial as I have no need for that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've had a Teamviewer free license account for a while without problems. I am retired and only use the system to connect to other machines in my home. I recently installed a new Ubuntu system and wanted to connect to it from my Windows 11 desktop. I had no issues with the connection for the last couple of days. This morning, after restarting the Ubuntu machine and starting Teamviewer, when I attempted to connect to it from Windows, the app claims I'm using it commercially and must purchase a license. I'm not using it commercially. I don't know what changed. I do use a VPN service on my Windows desktop. Please tell me what I need to do to be able to use your product again in my local environment. Thank you.

I'm in the same situation. No logical explanation.

Same here. What do they wish to accomplish with this nonsense..

For like what is the 3rd time, teamviewer is thinking I am using it for commercial use. I will repeat once again, I do run/own/part of any sort of business for teamviewer use. I only use it for helping one of my friends that is it. Its personal use. Please stop making my connections last like 5 minutes and remove the commercial use connected.

I have long used teamviewer to help family with their computers. Today for the first time I was timed out, and after only 5 seconds. And I get a popup saying I need to register as a commercial user. How do I let teamviewer know I am not a commercial user?

Subject: Request for Removal of Commercial Use Detection
Dear TeamViewer Team,
My name is Kim [removed per Community Guidelines]. I have been using TeamViewer for personal purposes. However, I recently encountered a Commercial Use Detected notification, which has restricted my access and caused significant inconvenience. I am reaching out to request your assistance with this issue.
The purpose of my TeamViewer usage is as follows:
- Personal use for remote access from my tablet to my desktop.
- Primarily to work on CAD and 3D projects.
- Due to the limited storage capacity of my tablet, I rely on remote access for working while away from my desktop.
I have never used TeamViewer for commercial purposes, and this restriction has created serious challenges for me. I kindly request the removal of the Commercial Use Detected status so I can continue using TeamViewer for personal purposes.
Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards,
Kim Jinhyung0 -
I have been using teamviewer for about a year now. I am now receiving prompts that "our free version isn't for business use" and am getting prompted to buy a license. After connecting to remote computer, I get kicked out after about a minute due to session timeout. It is a PC in my living room it is not commercial.

My previous post was just deleted for no reason? If this is the wrong place for this post tell me where to go so I can get my problem resolves, please.
I am using free teamviewer to remote into desktop in my living room. I get prompts that free version isn't for business use and to purchase a license.
I have been using it for a while now and have never had this happen until today. What gives?0 -
How do I get my free account reinstated. I have installed a new computer in my remote amateur observatory and my account has been flagged as business use. It remains exclusively for personal use though.

I've been using TeamViewer for years with a free account to remote into home desktop from my phone, laptop, etc with no issues.
Suddenly today I received a popup saying that I'm using TeamViewer in a commercial setting and my session time was limited to 5 minutes. What's odd is that I was connecting to my desktop on my own LAN when this popped up, so I can't think of any reason that would be detected as commercial usage.
It also appears I can't submit a support ticket to have this looked at without purchasing a license?
Has anyone else encountered this? What can I do to resolve this?

Quick follow-up, I was able to track down this page that allows you to enter a request to reclaim your free usage account status:
I filled out the form there, but it may take 72hours to get a response.

Im not sure where this post belongs, but here it is. I have used TeamViewer for personal use for over 20 years. I convinced a couple of companies I have worked for to adapt TV and they have purchased commercial licenses. For the past couple weeks my local TV (again for personal use) keeps kicking me out of my sessions, even for a machine this literally right next to me, claiming thats its "remote work" or "commercial work". Since I dont pay for a license I cant log a support ticket, and I get that I guess.
Something similar happened about a year or 2 ago but there was an option to dispute the message and it was cleared up pretty quick. I have looked high and low for such and option the past few days and cant find one.
Later TV. *bleep* to the rescue!

Hi, I've used TV for several years to remotely help my sister with IT issues. Now I get kicked off as soon as I connect. It seems that TV has classified me as a commercial user which I am not. How do I get my account (and my sister's account) classified personal so I can help her? Hopefully, I don't have to use another remote connection app! Thanks.

Cool, back here again to wait for the second time this year. I keep going I get dinged for commercial use.. even though it's only me connecting to my pc 2-3 times a year and teamviewer continues to have their *bleep* head shoved up their *bleep* and just go use the form. Why should I have to use this *bleep* form to unlock my account that I only ever use for personal use 2-3 times a year. At this point, it's goodbye teamviewer, I'm tired of dealing with your stupid *bleep*.

Hello
I am retired and use the TV non-commercially to help my friends. The TV shows that it is a commercial use and shuts down after a few seconds. Please help.

Hi all,
I'm using team viewer for a while now
Recently I'm trying to connect and then it cancels the connection and shows a text of session time out and sends me to a page to upgrade my plan
Does anyone know how to fix this?0 -
Hi everybody,
WIN10 PRO 64, TeamViewer 15.6..3.0
I've been using a verified free TV account to control some "headless" PCs on my own desk and remotely support applications for my two children. This worked admirably but the latest WIN upgrade (today 11 December) either coincided with a mandatory release of a new version of TV or simply broke it (perhaps both).
In any event, the moment the WIN upgrade was finalised, I was informed that my sessions were now illegal as the use was considered professional - After 38 months of verification as an authorised free user I'm now logged out within seconds.
The most significant problem is that every action I now try to take forces me to use the "new interface" which I have always rejected in favour of what wasn't broken and didn't need fixing. It appears that I sometimes even end up in a new browser interface.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled all to no avail as I still end up being advised I'm commercial and can't even access the list of my own PCs or my kids' remote machines without having to go through some form of session creation - a process that's completely alien to me having happily worked with the original interface. In any event, the alert that I'm misusing a free system as a commercial user just never goes away.
Is there anybody out there who can "walk me through" a solution that doesn't include ejection from a top floor window or:-
FORMAT C:
Are you an idiot?
yes.

You could all try a [Third Party Product] as a replacement, *bleep*'s free too.

Hi, i've been a user of TeamViewer (free for personal use - helping my elderly parents) for many years. I am now consistently experiencing session timeouts after only a few minutes. I see TeamViewer recently made updates to their software.
Is anyone else running into this issue with TeamViewer?
Much appreciated, thanks - JC0 -
I've been a TV user for many yrs. I have always used a personal / free license. I am not using it for business or in a commercial environment, never have. But today I keep getting shut out every time I login into my home PC and it shows a message that I'm a commercial user. I'm not, why does it say I am.
Thanks for your help

This post appears to apply to me - I'm getting messages saying that my account is suspected of being commercial use (not correct).
I plan to request an account reset via this link in the article
