Why can't I add a device to my account

in Windows 10, i am the only user and administrator. when i try to assign the device to my account, i get the error:

"You can only assign this device to your account if you have administrative rights and TeamViewer is installed"

i have run teamviewer as administrator, and still get the error. i can't seem to get past it

any help?

I'd try uninstalling (and check the check box for remove all settings) and then try re-installing.
