Seeing blank screen

I've been trying to establish remote control on my father's computer (Mac to Mac). I'm able to access it and see the menus, but the screen itself is a big blank. On my father's computer we can see the cursor moving, and the menus being clicked, etc. I've attached a screenshot of what I see. Any idea what's happening and how I can fix it?

It could be that some access parameters have not been granted yet, to guarantee a functional remote control session.
