How to not need remote session password

I am using TeamViewer free non-commercial version 15.69.5. I am using it on a new iMac after having restored it from a Time Machine backup of my old iMac. I use it strictly for connecting from my iPad (using the TeamViewer app) to the iMac unattended. On the old iMac, all I had to do was connect. I didn't need to enter my iMac TeamViewer password which changes each session. But I can't seem to figure out how to do it here. I found a checkbox for something called Easy Connect or something like that. I checked that box. However, when I try to connect to the new iMac using my iPad, it asks for the TeamViewer password on the iMac. Again, I am trying to use it unattended, and therefore I don't know the current iMac Teamviewer session password. Am I missing something? Should I uninstall TeamViewer on the iMac, and download and install TeamViewer Host?

@Chisa_R, thanks for your reply regarding uninstalling and reinstalling. I had previously done that, but I tried it again. I uninstalled using TeamViewer's built in uninstall feature. When I reinstalled TeamViewer on the Mac, it assigned the same ID as the previous installation. I configured it for unintended access, and changed the session password option to no password. I am still seeing the message saying "You cannot connect to the device you're currently using." This message is in the TeamViewer on my Mac, not my iPad. It appears where "Connect with Easy access" appears in your screenshot, so I see the error message instead of the "Connect with" option you show. However, I checked the Easy access elsewhere in my setup - I forget exactly where. When I open my iPad TeamViewer app, it says I cannot connect when I enter my Mac's TeamViewer ID. Should I be using TeamViewer Host? I tried installing that, but that didn't work either. Just for clarification, I am trying to connect to my Mac from my iPad, not the other way around. I want to see my Mac screen on my iPad.

Hi @jla930,

Looking at the screenshot, you sent us about the device tab earlier, I noticed that two devices, named "Mac" and "Jeff's new iMac", are displayed as "This device", indicating that the TeamViewer Full Client on macOS Tahoe has outdated configuration files from your old iMac.
So, I would suggest uninstalling the TeamViewer Full Client on macOS Tahoe by referring to this article:Uninstall TeamViewer

💡 Please make sure to delete all configuration files when uninstalling the Full Client

Then, please freshly install the Full Client app again from our website by clicking "Download TeamViewer":

Then, please reconfigure unattended access on your macOS Tahoe:

Provide unattended remote support

If the macOS Tahoe is managed properly, it should appear under "All managed devices", as shown in number 3 in the image below.
If so, select it and click "Easy Access", as shown in No.4.

Regarding the error:
The error "You cannot connect to the device you're currently using. Please choose another device" indicates that you are selecting the wrong device to connect to. For example, on TeamViewer on your iPad, you may be attempting to connect to the iPad itself (the same device you're trying to initiate a connection from). My advice now is to double-check which device you are connecting to by checking the TeamViewer (device) ID.
💡 TeamViewer (Device) ID is unique to each device. On your macOS Tahoe (after the reinstallation), please open the TeamViewer Full Client and check the page shown in the image below. The number in the orange frame (e.g. 111 222 333) is the TeamViewer (device) ID.

I hope uninstalling resolves the issue. Please keep me updated!

@Chisa_R , I found the settings by hovering over the handle you showed. When I clicked Manage this device, it did not ask me for any credentials. Also, I left the session password field blank. When I tried to connect with my iPad, I once again got the error message "The password you entered is invalid, please try again." Also, I am attaching a screenshot showing a message saying I cannot connect to the iMac. I'm at a loss here, unless it just won't work with macOS Tahoe at the moment.

Thanks for all your efforts. I very much appreciate it. Have you seen this come up with other Tahoe users?

Could you please hover over the section highlighted in yellow and click it?
It’s possible the secondary menu is simply collapsed. Once you do, please check if the settings menu appears.

Thank you for providing more information. Some functionality might not be unavailable on your account due to limited compatibility with your iMac device.

You might also try accessing the Settings icon at the top right of the login page. While this may lead to the same result, it’s still worth a try!

When unexpected behavior occurs, restarting TeamViewer can sometimes help resolve temporary issues. That said, as you mentioned, some underlying limitations may persist until full support for macOS 26 (Tahoe) is implemented.

@Chisa_4, Thanks for your reply. I do not see anything that says Advanced settings after I click the settings icon. I am attaching a screenshot of what my screen looks like after I click on settings. By the way, the Account field is not able to be clicked on in the first picture. I did notice somewhere that an Unattended Access checkbox was checked. But now, I can't connect to my iMac from my iPad at all, even with TeamViewer running on my iMac. I get an error message. See screenshot. At the moment, the password field is blank for the iMac Teamviewer session password. See screenshot. (I deleted my TeamViewer ID in that screenshot where the yellow box is. However, as the password box is blank, I assume I don't need a TeamViewer password for the session.) This just isn't working. It's a shame, as Ive been enjoying using TeamViewer for years. I'll try again when TeamViewer is fully compatible with Tahoe.

We’ve shared the latest compatibility information on macOS 26 Tahoe in the following community announcement:

As noted in the post, macOS 26 Tahoe is not yet fully compatible with TeamViewer. Our team is actively working on this, so please stay tuned for further updates.

In the meantime, we can explore whether unattended access is currently possible. Please refer to the image below and follow these steps to locate the “Manage this device” option on your iMac.

Go to the settings icon (⚙)>Advanced settings>General>Scroll down to the Manage this device section>click "Manage this device">type in your account credentials

Let me know if you can find the "Mange this device" button! 😊

@Chisa_R, I do not see anything that says "Manage my device". I am attaching some screenshots of the current configuration and menus. This is on my iMac TeamViewer app. One of the screenshots shows a message saying I cannot connect to the device. However, I can connect to my iMac from my iPad if I load up the TeamViewer app on the iPad, and enter the TeamViewer password on the iMac for that session. So I can connect. However, as stated in my original post, I want to connect to the iMac from the iPad without having to enter the TeamViewer password for that session, as it changes every time I reboot the computer. I'd like to have the same password every time I connect, or no password. Notes that I log into TeamViewer on both the iMac and iPad with a username (email) and a fixed TeamViewer password to get into the app, not to get into the connection session.

@Chisa_R , Thank you for posting the link. Meanwhile, I checked compatibility, and as it turns out, MacOS 26 (Tahoe), Apple’s newest and recent operating system, is not on the compatibility list. At the risk of sounding like a stupid question, will unattended access (or TeamViewer in general) not have full functionality on Tahoe? Or is TeamViewer compatible, but Tahoe is just too new to appear on the list? I’m sorry I didn’t mention I’m using Tahoe in my original post. Thanks.

I don’t see a link in your post, other than the one for supported operating systems, and I’m not sure that’s the article you mean. Can you please post a link to the article that has Step 1? To begin with, please make sure that the OS of your local and remote devices is supported by TeamViewer.

Supported operating systems for TeamViewer

There is a chance that unattended access was not properly configured on your new remote device.

Please refer to the instructions in the STEP 1 in this article to configure unattended access on your new iMac. Please go to the appropriate tab depending on which module — Full Client or Host — is installed on your iMac.

After the setup, please open the TeamViewer Remote Control app on your iPad, and navigate to the Devices tab, and click My Managed Devices. When your iMac is online, you will see the icon with blue arrows next to your iMac name, so click it to start an unattended session.
