Monitor resolution

Hi - I could use your advice, please. 

The remote device is a PC with a 3:4 ACER AL1917 monitor set to 1280x1024. The local device is a Sony Vaio notebook with its own screen being a 16:9 one, and resolution that can be set up to 1366x768, but I'm using it with an external 3:4 LG monitor. What are my best options to view the PC at the monitor plugged to the notebook (provided that I don't care about the quality of the picture on the notebook's own screen)? Thanks in advance.
