Team Viewer feed pauses when setting up new Mac OS profile

Hi,

When I setup a new user (on an already established Mac) and then log-into that profile, the Team Viewer feed is frozen until I get somebody to locally run through the profile setup questions ("Do you want to use iCloud drive" "Turn on Siri" etc).

This is often a real pain as I have to wait for end-users to help / cannot work when the offices are closed.

Does anyone know of a solution to get round this please?

Thanks in advance
Al

Re: Team Viewer feed pauses when setting up new Mac OS profile

A Mac is in a kind of "limbo" state while Setup Assistant is on screen for a new macOS user account. As you have experienced, this can interfere with capturing the screen.

As a workaround, it is possible to have macOS skip the Setup Assistant for new users.

  • To turn the Setup Assistant off for any account created in the future, you will need to modify the templates in /System/Library/User Template.
  • To make macOS think the setup has already run for a newly created account you can modify its preferences prior to logging in for the first time.

Here's a link to a third party script that shows you how to do this (Use at your own risk!):

https://github.com/rtrouton/rtrouton_scripts/blob/master/rtrouton_scripts/disable_apple_icloud_data_...

The first part of the script modifies the user templates, affecting any users created from that point on. The second part makes macOS think the setup has already run on all existing user accounts.
