Does anyone ever answer these

If you can't get Teamviewer help  for free Teamviewer by phone, why are so many of these questions unanswered? We need help!!!

Can I connect my PC to my iPad? When I try I get a failed connection. I can go from iPad to PC but not PC to iPad.

Someone PLEASE answer these questions!

Re: Does anyone ever answer these

DCHBBC - To answer your first question, "Why are so many of these questions unanswered," the answer is that this is a user forum, not a tech support forum. Sometimes a moderator may jump in and provide an answer or helpful suggestion, but you should not expect direct help from TeamViewer support for something you do not pay for.

Have you tried the Knowledge Base (https://community.teamviewer.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/tkb-p/Knowledgebase)? Have you tried to submit a ticket to support (https://www.teamviewer.com/en/support/?_ga=2.**Please do not post TeamViewer IDs**.**Please do not p...).

As far as your second question, "can I connect my PC to my iPad," I think the answer is yes. This page probably has the answer to your question: https://community.teamviewer.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/How-can-I-share-the-screen-on-my-iPad-iPhone-with...

Re: Does anyone ever answer these

Thanks. I understand I don't pay for this but articles don't always answer every question and how would I know if I want to buy something if I can't get it to work for free.

I did submit a ticket last week.

I had already followed all of the steps listed, which is why I said articles alone are not enough. I attached photos to explain.

First, the help says to open the Full Teamviewer on your PC. The app says something different. It says to go to https://start.teamviewer.com/. So if I follow the video I get Protocol Negotiation Failed over and over on the app. On the PC I get, Unable to Connect Reason Unknown AND an ad for Amazon Gift Card!!!!!, every time.  My PC Teamviewer doesn't even have the VPN option that it shows in the "How To". When I do connect my app doesn't have the TEAMVIEWER option like it shows only Screen Broadcast and Start Broadcast. So after I allow connection all I can do is Chat.

All of this is marked in my attached pictures. It doesn't help to have the help guides if they don't follow the product or if they don't work. I could be a tech person too if all I had to do was give people links. That's what I get from help desks from all different products, even one's I'm paying for help. They send you links because they don't know any more than me.

I know it's not your fault. Thanks for trying to help. I appreciate it.Inkedteam1_LI.jpgteam 2.jpgteam1.jpgteam3.jpgteam111.jpg

Re: Does anyone ever answer these

David,

I will make a couple of observations.

1. You originally said "iPad", but in your pictures you are working with an iPhone. Not a big deal because the process is the same, but details are important when dealing with software like this and you are asking for help on a user supported forum. Supplying pictures and more details as you did this time will generally result in better help from someone trying to help you out..

2. And informationally. the QuickSupport app on IOS only allows "screen sharing", not remote control. I don't see that as helpful because right now you can take a screen shot on the iPhone and text it to your help partner and achieve the same results.

3. After reading the knowledgebase entry, I believe now that it does not work with the "free" version because at the very top of the page it says "This article applies to iOS users in all licenses." and when you click the licenses link it takes you to a page that  does NOT show the free version. I believe that to mean that the free version is not a "License" version.

4. Your picture that shows your desktop software not displaying "VPN" is because you do not have TeamViewer 14. Earlier versions did not display the VPN option. In the next picture, where the right side shows 3 options with TeamViewer in the middle, it only displays that the initial/first time you try to use the app. After that it only displays the two options of "start broadcast" and "screen broadcast". When it is working, once you click "start broadcast" it initiates a 3, 2, 1, countdown and then starts blinking red to indicate it is broadcasting. In your 4th picture, where it shows a URL in a browser, that can be skipped and you can go directly to the desktop client and type in the ID to initiate the session. Going to start.teamviewer.com just checks to see if you have a client installed on your computer and offers to open it if you do or sell you a license if you don't. The advertising popup for the Amazon card is because you are using the free version. And finally in your last picture with "protocol negotian failed" is more than likely because you are sing the free version and it is not seeing your license.

5. I have a licensed version and when I follow the instructions, it all seems to work as it should. So on your behalf, I contacted support and they have confirmed that you can't view the screen of an IOS device using the free desktop Version.

Good luck!

Re: Does anyone ever answer these

Thanks. ....Yes, that was on my phone but I tried it on the iPad with the same results. I was too lazy to walk and get the iPad.....I have downloaded the version 14, I attached a picture.....I guess if you could tell me all of this, why don't they just state that all in their help pages? It would save a lot of time. It must be different now because I've always had the free version for years and I have called and received help in the past....It doesn't matter anyway. I didn't have a real use for that feature. I was just trying it...

Since you know way more than me, on the free version, is it possible to transfer files if I'm on my iphone/ipad and I want a file that is on my PC? Going from my office PC to my Kitchen PC I can transfer files but not with the iPhone/iPad.

Thanks again.gkgk.jpg

Re: Does anyone ever answer these

I'm not sure I know more than you, I just know how to read between the lines and interpret what they really mean when they say something. I used the free version for years myself before they forced me to buy a license for way too many hundreds of dollars. Since then I have been able to renew annually for just under half of the original amount. But this last renewal will be my final one because another user here pointed out an alternative that does everything I use in TeamViewer for eighty percent less! So after 7 years they are going to lose my business. The reason you could call before with the free version is because like I explained in one of my other posts, they were trying to build their user base and as we spread the word and thousands upon thousands signed up, they no longer need to cater to the users that have been with them since the beginning. They have become so successful that they don't need free users. I know one of the forum mods posted earlier "We have no plans to stop the free version", but she left off the most important word. "Yet!" Mark my words, it is only a matter of time, a year, two maybe three, it will happen.

To answer your last question, I think you are asking can you use your IOS device to login to your PC and then from your PC transfer a file to another PC in your same house. If so, the answer is "Yes", but you need a different TeamViewer app, not the QuickSupport that you have been tryin to use. Due to Apple's security restrictions, you can't remotely control an IOS device.

To do what you are asking, you need to get this version: https://www.teamviewer.com/en/use-cases/mobile-connections/ and it will allow you to connect AND remotely control your PC.  Once you are in your PC, then you can do anything as if you were right there. Use that PC and TeamViewer to connect to the kitchen and transfer away. However, be warned that working with the tiny keyboard and screen of an iPhone I find very frustrating trying to do anything too demanding. It's not like working with a mouse and keyboard.

Good night and have fun.

Re: Does anyone ever answer these

Wow Yuri, you like my contribution so much that you completely remove my last post to @dchbbc?

David, I tried to answer your question but the mods have removed it. Hopefully you got the details of it in the email.

The censorship here is truly unbelievable. Yuri you can go ahead and close my community account. My help is not wanted here because I give my opinion and the mods don't like it. I'm outta here.

Re: Does anyone ever answer these

Maybe a moderator can clarify for me. I guess I’m not explaining or asking correctly.

what I want to do is log in on my iPhone or iPad to the teamviewer app, not the quick support app. Then I’d like to access my pc that has the full teamviewer on it and copy a file from my pc to my phone or transfer a photo from my phone to my pc. Is that possible?

the file box works for me from pc to pc but nothing happens when I’m on my phone and drag a photo on the pc to the file box.
