Error: Not Ready, Please Check Your Connection (Windows 10)

I am using a Windows 10 laptop.  TeamViewer worked fine on WiFi at my house but when I connected to WiFi at another location, I get this error message.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app.  I've tried restarting my laptop.  I've tried restarting the target computer.  I've tried going into task manager and shutting any open/background processes from there (of which there were none).

I know my ID number is correct, but I've also tried signing into my account using my email address and it still gives the same error message.

How do I fix this?

    It seems this is a well known issue with a recent Windows 10 update, but Teamviewer are not acknowledging it and have refused to offer tech support to free users.
    Teamviewer has always been a good product but if the product doesn't work, how do you expect me to pay for it?
