TeamViewer file transfer only working one way -- how to fix?

New TeamViewer user here. In my system the Open FIle Transfer function does not work as described in the Knowledge Base. I can see and control everything in my home computer just fine from my laptop when I am on the road, but the program will only transfer files from my laptop to my home machine and not the other way around. Does anyone have a fix for this?
