AFAIK, the file transfer speed was drastically limited for free users.
Incorrect choice of commercial use during installation, resulting in a trial period. How to restore the personal free version.
I have no problem with speed.
"Teamviever group" is not responding about my problem (Commercial use, but it' a private use)
@AriannaMicrochi : no one from TV will respond in this thread, you'll need to look at the 1st page, there's a link to a form you'll need to fill and wait for an eventual answer...
Yes, I have filled out the form. I'm waiting for an answer.
But if it must happen often, I'll change product.
Message me on the other product you end up using, i have tried a couple but seem to complicated to use.
hello my personnal account is locked because the system think that i am professional but i am not a professional i just use it to help my familly and friends a few times .
i would like to unclock my account.
best regards
Hi
I have the same problem.
It's simple:
Solution 1:
Buy a license
Solution 2:
Find the link to the form you need to fill out by going through this forum. Fill it out and send it in. Wait several weeks to several months for a response. The response may be "send in a signed affidavit that you are non-commercial" but you are not given where to send it. You cannot send it to customer support because you are not a paid subscriber, So attach the image to your reply to the "send an affidavit"
Sometime after that, again waiting weeks to months, if you're lucky, with notice or without, your account starts working again. Or not.
Solution 3:
Use another remote control program
Solution 1: 27.90EUR/mo to help family??? NO!
Solution 2: yes. I've done. And now my account is again considered commercial.
Solution 3: [removed per Community Guidelines]
@Stanislav : what's the TV official position on the ever growing thread of users being incorrectly accused of commercial usage (https://community.teamviewer.com/t5/TeamViewer-General/TeamViewer-thinks-I-m-using-the-software-comm...) Thank you!
LE: I initially posted this for an upcoming AMA (Ask Me Anything) but it hasn't been accepted...
Hello
I use Teamviewer every day privately and not commercially because on only one of my computers I have photoshop installed. Except that now I have an incessant pop up that tells me: Professional use
Commercial use has been detected and my session will be interrupted in 5 minutes.
I also got the following message:
Your license limits the maximum session time with a partner, immediate reconnections are blocked. Please try again later or upgrade your license
So...
First TV starts nagging me about my remote computer's version being old. Which actually is, so I upgrade it.
Then TV nags me about my host's version being too low. So I'm forced to upgrade it.
And after going through that, It tells that I'm having a commercial use and will be disconnected after 5 mins, which actually happens after 30 seconds.
I've only ever used TV to connect my personnal laptop to my old personnal desktop where I kep a few services running like my mail and IRC client. This has been the case for the 5 years I owned this laptop, and it hasn't even left my house for now 2 years.
So... I did go through the hassle to register an account to see if this changes anything. But nope. And after that, I filled that reset form (after reading numerous people saying that it may take considerably more time that announced, and not even assure that my account won't be flagged again later).
Needless to say, I'll start looking for a replacement while cheking how you fix this nonsense since the contents of this thread doesn't fill me with confidence that I'll be able to return to my simple use.
I had the commercial version in the past but now i want to have the free version. Although i uninstalled team viewer (and the settings off the app) from my pc and installed the free version it didn't work. It does not allow me to connect with a partner, it still shows a message that i used the commercial. How can i get the free version (just for private usage) and get rid of the commercial? Thank you in advance.
Hello guys, some weeks ago I received an alert that Teamviewer thinked I use this software for commercial purpose and so locked my use in 3 minutes.
I used the common form explaining my reasons and received the answer from Teamviewer support Team... they believed me and says they set my account to free again.
But it still doesn't work. I still can't use teamviewer from my desktop to control my notebook on the same LAN. It is very sad. What can I do?
I have been using Team viewer for several use for personal use. I have never used it in works environment. But I use my works laptop at home. I use the latest version. In the last 6 months, the team viewer gets disconnected in 5 minutes and is asking me to wait.
When I am not using team viewer in "work environment", why is this happening. I have always praised team viewer for providing this free and good quality service for personal use.
Can you please offer a solution in my case.
Kind regards
I just downloaded and install TeamViewer 14 for personal use on my personal Windows 7 PC. I connect to a friend's personal PC to supervise an online application they are doing, however, after about five minutes the session times out and I need to wait 10 minutes before I can reconnect.
This is the message I am getting:
"This was a free session sponsored by www.teamviewer.com.
TeamViewer sessions are free of charge for personal use.
We thank you for playing fair!
Your TeamViewer session has timed out and will be closed.
Is this something new from the TeamViewer team? To limit the personal use sessions to 5 minutes with a timeout of 10 minutes?
well I got my email saying it was free again - though I still get the nag at the beginning warning me about commercial usage (that makes it sound like it thinks that's what I'm using it for) but I manage to connect to my mother's pc for several hours over the weekend. Mind you that's just one of her computers, so we'll see when I connect to another one. I did have one person connect to me to check it out, it was only for a few minutes but that was ok too, hopefully the problem is fixed
You're lucky I am getting no answers for more than a month now !
Still no answer from support !!!!! It's been more than a month now. What a shame.
@Anthony75 : yeah well technically they support paying customers, we're basically doing a favor for personal users, but probably this strains their architecture, so unless we pay, we're more than free to look for alternatives.
Bonjour, J'utilise Teamviewer en public depuis 2 ans et depuis la mise a jour. Je me fait déconnecté toute les cinq minute en me mettant que je l utilise professionnelement
Pourrier vous aider. Merci
Hi, as you can see from my account, I have used Teamviewer Free in the past to support a local charity.
I now do voluntary unpaid work to support my local General Practitioners' Surgery (My Doctor).
I would like to use Teamviewer Free to help me in my work which includes updating the TV screen in the surgery showing images and videos promoting health.
Teamviewer Free assumed that I was using the service commercially, probably because it recognised the installation of SignageLive on the remote PC which is the well known service used for displaying information on screens.
Please will you allow me the use of Teamviewer free, because the surgery cannot afford the licence fee.
Thanks, Geoff Hill
If this was the case it would be fine if they just told us "we can no longer support free users" and we'd move on but this facade they have is not doing them any favours.
I _was_ a paying customer until i was treated like this, i kept my private usage separate from my business usage in an effort to "do the right thing" but now, **bleep** it, i'll use something else.
Good luck finding something, I tried a couple and they were rubbish. I don't know what happens to good products, they either get 'updated' to death until they are unusable (like microsoft did to skype) or they just seem to let them rot like ICQ. Or they start a new program and promise it will be forever free but a few years down the track they keep it free but bury under stacks of advertising to upgrade and are forever trying to sneakily you get you to upgrade (avast), and it seems teamviewer is doing this :(
@Akala : funny thing, I wanted to post this, but you gave me the perfect opportunity by your message. Well, ICQ was the grandfather of all chat programs, I remember how it was the top back in 2001 2002, almos 20 years ago, but it faded, overtaken by different types of Messenger (Yahoo! etc.) Now it's Russian and nobody uses it, almost.
But back to my story: I've been a long time user of Piriform products, most notable CCleaner. Recently it was purchased by Avast :) and I've upgraded to latest version yesterday. What do I notice? A nice message saying: This is free version not to be used in commercial environment :) or something similar :) and I was thinking come on not you as well! :D
ahh drat, I use ccleaner as well but haven't updated in the past week or two, but it is definitely becoming a habit :( It happened to lots of graphics programs too, I guess I'm just too old remembering all this stuff. But if you can't predict the future just say you'll keep it free for as long as possible, dont make promises you can't, or don't intend, to keep. Even though my teamviewer was fixed, I don't have a lot of confidence when I try it on some of my mother's other computers. Oh well, one battle at a time ;)
@Akala : when I saw the big letters of "Thank you for playing fair!" in the latest CCleaner version I said what the... :D
I use TeamViewer to connect from my mobile to my personal pc and for a while it tells me that it has detected that I am using it commercially.
On occasion I have connected to other equipment, but not for commercial use ....
What can I do to solve it?
Same here!
Team Viewer recently (a few weeks ago) suspected commercial use althought I changed nothing in my habits for years (same family/friends!).
And yesterday, I got the CCleaner pop up as well!
My home PC is a second hand DELL with Windows 10 Pro. Could it be a windows update that makes those softwares thinks I'm on a pro machine (server signature or something ?)
@pjgfi : no I don't think Microsoft would mess up with installed software in such a way (i.e. the displayed pop-ups clearly come from the applications itself). Moreover I got the CCleaner pop-up on other older versions of Windows as well (at least version 7).
For me it's just a coincidence but it made me grin, and I was thinking how did Piriform came up with the same wording as TV? :D Thank you for playing fair! We do play fair, TV, we always did, but you seem to no longer play by your own rules.
@pjgfi : sorry, on Windows 7 I get warnings from both CC and TV, and recently I also saw some updates on Windows 7 but they were some preview versions of .NET Framework (anyways, Windows 7 is almost EOL so they won't update with feature).
However, I don't have the CC warning on Windows XP, which makes me think the following: all my Windows versions are PRO versions (i.e. I always preferred to pay a little extra in order not to have the Home version (which lacks RDP for instance)).
But if both software include in their check that the Windows version is a Pro version, then this is extremly dumb, nothing prevents me if I want to pay for it to use a Pro version as a non-professional user.
Hi,
Frome some days, I have a time limit to connect me to another PC, how I can solve this problem that I never had since years I use privatly the program.
I can not connect being particular , i am user spanish, since my mac it remained open tabsand he tells me commercial use not being that way, I only made a connection to another computer ina sporadic way. Please request solutio to continue being particular . Thak you. Yolanda cedillo. **Please do not post TeamViewer IDs**
Hello everyone. I have been using TeamViewer for years now and have stumbled upon an issue on one of my computers. I am a personal user, only using the program to monitor and remotely complete tasks on my various machines. However, one of my machines has said my trial version expired. I found the other article about how to switch from commercial to personal, but all the links to verify your personal use are broken and lead to an ERROR-404 page. Is there anyone who can help me in this by providing corrected links or share what I need to to? Thanks in advance!
Hello @stargateguy1
Thank you for your post.
I was able to verify this as well.
I have forwarded the issue to the appropriate team so we may resolve this as quick as possible.
We apologize for any inconvenience.

This link should give the form, but it gives 404 error. I submitted the form a while ago and did not get any response. Maybe the form URL is changed? If so please publish the link.
Help, help, help.
I wonder if this is what's causing the commercial use issue with one of my laptops. @JoshP I have gone through the reset request form and not been reset, nor provided the decloration to fill out. Is TV having a problem with the resets? It's only on one of my eight devices, but I can't reach the other seven (in the same house) from the one being blocked.

Maybe it's a good sign that there's currently something wrong with the detection and they're updating the page...
EDIT : no, page is back...

Hello,
I use teamviewer for purely personal purposes, to connect to family computers.
I am at the end of the trial version period (already extended by 7 days).
How to get back to the free version? The commercial version was "imposed" by an update. I could not get the answer over the phone.
Thank you
N.B I already made the request a few days ago but did not get an answer.
Thanks @JoshP . I was hoping as it's been a month.
