Teamviewer is actively trying to get rid of user who do not pay for a commercial license. Instead of simply admitting it, they enforce these stupid pop-ups.
You know, in it's day, TeamViewer was da king. It was fantastic in that it offered the oportunity to leanover someone's shoulder working on their computer. But there are many good options now to do that that don't fall back on "Commercial use Suspected". TeamViewer does have some nice features, though.
Hard to rant about a community of users that have become outlaws. I don't pay TeamViewer anything. They are generous to let me use their system for free. I'm getting something for nothing, which could make me an outlaw. But I'd at least like to be treated consistently.
I'm looking into alternatives right now because I am tired of this nonsense. I've been a loyal fan of teamviewer and if they had a reasonable price for one time purchase I would totally buy it. Or even a 30$/ year license I could get behind for my personal use. But 50$ a month is stupid rediculous when there are at least 5 options for free.
[removed per Community Guidelines] seems to me it is a waste of time to fill out the form to get a wrongful identified acct changed to personal when in days it just goes back to commercial.. Sounds to me this is a detection software poorly designed and implemented that is inpropely determining Commercial use of the software. I use it for personal only, guessing the last time I used it other than yesterday when I got the Duration Time notification...was abiut 6 weeks ago.
Wish I could, but the TeamViewer Community website is tuned not to let you list commercial products - [removed per Community Guidelines] Both are free, but you can buy more sophisticated options on the latter, which I don't need. There are others as well.
I have all three engaged in my system, so I can have confidence that, whatever happens, I'll be able to get through.
Exactly the same issue with me and Teamviewer does not respond. I guess they now want to generate revenue from personal use. Only thing I changed was my ISP

If you did get the confirmation that your ID was reset, please remember that it could be necessary to restart TeamViewer.
If you are still not able to connect that means, that the remote side is the one flagged as "commercial use" and then the next step would be to send us the request also for the remote device.

I tried everything. Both TVs are updated, I got even the "set to free confirmation" for my parents, i reinstalled the TVs after cleaning every trace of it, i even tried the portable version of TV.
I allways get immediately the kommercial use claim and the 5 min limit but then get thrown out after only 20 seconds.
My parents would even pay but not as much and not for an application with defect licensing.
Is there realy no hope and no one responsible? No one to turn to?
In my opinion, this issue casts a very poor image of TV...poor treatment of customers service, poor image of something they employed that should properly detect Commercial users and it is not.....poor design and implementation from a company who should be highly sophisticated when it comes to software. It is clear many of us have been wrongfully accused of using TV for commercial use. Fill out a form, maybe TV agrees you are not using the Software for commercial use, wait a week or more for maybe a response, than others who got the response have written here that after only a few days get ID'ed as a commercial user again...then complete yet another form....it nothing more than making lots of people talk about TV in a very negative way. Shame on TV....this treatment is unexcusable...and the service provided...gets a D(-)
I go the dreaded message today out of the blue. Been using the software for years now connecting to one computer, using one computer. Never used it for more than one computer.
I understand the need to potentially catch people using your software outside the scope of design but really. I use it for one computer so I don't have to go upstairs.
The bad part is nobody can really answer why TV declares it's commercial use. Shady and I will no longer recommend this product.
I can write negative comments...and when things I hope are made right...I will always write Positive comments in Thanks. Coincident or not, in about 12 hours from my earlier Posting of today expressing my disappointment with TV as recognized me as a commercial User when that was not so...I got the form email from TV advising I was no longer identified as a Commercial User. I had also sent the form 3 days ago that is available in this form....so was it my Post or the form...and does it even matter...TV thus far has made it right. I have read where others who got this same email...no longer recognized as a Commercial user...only to be recognized as a Commercial User again.
I want to Thank TV for resolved my issue, removing the Commercial User status...and it is my hope that TV is using my findings as well as others to Tweak whatever monitoring software is in use to identify those that are using TV Commercially to the harm and disadvantage of those of us who are using TV honestly...for personal use.
Again; thank you TV......after getting your email I did connect with my sister for a few seconds and that popup Notification about durations, etc...did not appear. I hope it remains in the Free License (Non Commercial use Only) Status
It took them 10 days to finally fix my account but I appreciate it. There's other options but I'm just used to TeamViewer and I like it. Only thing is I didn't know I had to report each ID, so while one PC is good for free use, my other is still flagged. I filled out the form again for the other ID. Now I just wait for them to set that to free and I'll be good to go :)
So far 6 days in on the fixed ID and no false flags yet like some are getting after the fix.

I have the same **bleep** problem from my personal mobile phone to my personal desktop. This is Irritating. I spoke with someone from TeamViewer and they wanted me to pay [The price has been removed as per the community guidelines.] a year to allow the connection.

As noted, there are several good options for control of a remote computer.The question is, what does Teamviewer have that you need, that these more basic and free applications don't? Teamviewer has a nice file management structure, but that capability can be approximated by simply using Dropbox along with these other free apps.
i like that file transfer between remote/PC is included with free TeamVierwer. The other remote desktop I started using only includes file transfers if you pay a yearly fee.

do you have multiple computers? Mine did that too but I found out I had to report each PCs ID. The one I reported is fine now. Just waiting on them to free the second PC ID i sent them.
I have two computers that use to contact the other. The only reason is one is windows and the other is a Mac. Sometimes I need to do things on the windows machine I can't do on the Mac.
I have put in the requestion twice and have not received any response as of yet. Hopefully I will hear something soon.
I have been researching other options but it appears that TV will squash any conversation regarding alternatives.
I put in an unblock request to TV about a week ago, protesting the totally fabricated accusation of commercial use, and they say they try to serve those requests in a week. I'll give them a few more days, and then just give TV the heave-ho. Just isn't worth the frustration/exasperation anymore.

I have been using the same account for years to access my own personal use on my own devices and now, I am getting blocked because they are detecting that it's a commercial use.
And there is no one to discuss it with from Teamviewer support.

TeamViewer is a good product, and I enjoy using it, but the "commercial use detected" police make it unreliable. I need a reliable way to control remote computers for non-comercial applications. As a result, I will look forward to my restriction being removed, but I will not depend on it anymore.

I was in a Viking museum in Iceland last week. One of the computerized displays had crashed, leaving a copy of TeamViewer on the screen. It was the free, non-commercial version!

There is a no reall method to the logic to detect commercial use. To me it's a **bleep** shoot just to get you to purchase their product.
I have two computers. One doesn't have a monitor so I use TV to login two or three times a week. This apparently flags as commercial.
Just recently I have been getting kicked off sessions with an alert saying that I am breaking the rules of the free version. Then not ablt to re-connect for about 20 minutes. The session is lasting for about 5 minutes. I have been using this free account to log into my Home PC for many years, this is the first time I am getting this. I am remoting from a Win 10 Laptop (WiFi) to a Win 7 Desktop (ETH)
Any thoughts wuld be greatly appreciated...
Team Viewer is denying me access to 1 of my pc stating it is used for Biz/Commercial use.
That is not accurate. I have logged into my work VPN before bc my work PC was down, but this is my personal PC and that is not something that will happen again anytime soon.
C'mon folks. TeamViewer is generous in letting us use its services, but the commercial use police are out of control, and it is time to say goodbye.
That should be somewhat obvious. They do provide a great and realiable service, that costs money.
But, this is a money grab on their part. I believe the purposing obviscate how the process works and don't really do a whole lot to fix the ones the flagged as commercial by mistake.
They have no loss in the game by initiating this process. You either pay or not use there service. You weren't paying in the first place so you aren't generating and revenue. You are just costing the money for the infrastructure they provide. This is why their response is what it is.....
Again, I will probably never recommend this product to anybody ever.
There was a time when Teamviewer was pretty unique in functionality. That was the time when we adored them, and worried over unfounded accusations of commercial use. Those days are long gone.
I am trying to connect to my home PC from work and I am getting a commercial use notification. Is this normal? I am just trying to fix a problem with Plex so my kids can watch a video. My home PC runs Windows Professional (not a server) and is utilized as a family media server (I am not using it for anything paid). I used to do this before without any problem. Is this something that TeamViewer recently introduces? Or something that my employer did? Thanks.
May I ask if you've received a response from TeamViewer yet after submitting the form? I submitted one last week and haven't heard anything as of today.
I too have recently received a notification from TV that my website was suspected of being commercial and I am locked out now. This is not the case - it is a personal use website only, always has been. I use TV to remotely maintain the website and make configuration adjustments as needed. I filled out the support form documented above but have not heard back from them yet. It has been about a week. Should I submit another form?
Hi All, Sunday afternoon Teamviewer closed the connection I was making after 5 minutes, signaling a suspected commercial use. I have already opened the report to teamviewer, but now I realized that this is the third or fourth time it has happened to me in the last 2 years. As indicated in the ticket, I use Teamviewer only to assist friends and relatives. I have no commercial activity, I am an employee of an Italian olive oil producing company.
Does the fact that I get stuck repeatedly can depend on a teamviewer installation problem? Thanks to those who will answer me
Thanks for the kudo. I am giving up. I am tired of waiting. TV decided my web site was commercial (dang, I had better check my bank account and see how much money I am making) and I have been ousted. I have to have access to my observatory (non-commercial) and weather instruments (purely personal) so I need something now not whenever they get around to ruling on my case. It is kind of funny. Their message says I only get 5 minutes of use at a time but that translates to about 60 seconds. And then they penalize me for 15 to 30 minutes before I can log back in. I"m close to doing the same. I use TV to help my mother and father-in-law, both over 70 year old, when they have a computer issue or just need my help with something. I use it primarily to access a computer at a small local history museum (non-profit) that is all volunteer run and funded solely by donations. I'm the treasurer (non-paid, as I said, we're all volunteers) and having access to the computer at the museum is a must. Not only due I handle the finances, I also use the museum software to send out newsletters, fundraising letter, manage our contacts and record artifact donations. I've been without acces for a week and the museum is 150 miles away from me. It's been a nightmare. I too only get about 60 seconds per session and have to wait at least 10 minutes between sessions. Literally can't do a thing. I'm looking into alternatives as well. Hoping not to have to pay but will if I have no choice. I think TeamViewer is holding out hoping that we will pay them. I won't simply because they sprung this on us and won't respond. Would like to know what software you chose!
