pointer is black square and difficult to use

The computer that I connect to now has a black square for a pointer. How can I fix?

    Thank you for your post.

    Is it possible, that the screen on the remote side is turned off or not connected. 
    This might be the reason why your cursor is displayed incorrectly.

    Could you please check this?
