Remote into Ubuntu 18.04 without a monitor

I am trying to connect to an Ubuntu 18.04 desktop from my Windows 10 laptop.  Both have TeamViewer v15.11.6 installed.  My Ubuntu desktop does not have a monitor connected to it.  When I remote into it, anytime I move a window around or minimize a window, I get a trail of windows that follow it and never go away.  When I connect a monitor to my desktop, the issue goes away.  How can I fix this?
