is there a way that i can commect with desktop that my system is hooked up to after a while of rest and it had put itselt to sleep. would like to be able to monitor building late at night then check again in the am before i have to go in.

TeamViewer does offer Wake On LAN services. Here is the manual on setting it up for both Windows and Mac computers as well as configuring TeamViewer.
