Unable to connect unknown reason message is followed by statement the target is running an older version and can not be connected to..
I support my brother remotely as he has very few computer skills. I only need to sort out issues in frequently (once a month or less only when issues arise) I have had no problems for many years. About 5 months ago I update my end when notified and thought nothing of it. The next time I tried to connect to my brother ( about 1-2 months later) a connect message said his end was an old version and that it would only connect for about 5 minutes. Annoying but most issues are simple and I was able to sort out the current issue in the allotted time. The next time I visited I found out V15 will not install on XP computer. I resigned myself to the 5 minute limit and forgot about it. The next time there was an issue (about a month ago) the connect message first said fail to connect and then noting his prior version and said it would not connect. I took a laptop with V14 .7.4.48507 over to his house and tried several removals and re-installs on both his and my laptops to no avail as every attempt met with the same message even though both were then running the exact same versions. I tried phone support but there is none for free versions. Your Community support sunset announcement indicates the following.
However, incoming connections to XP/Vista/2003/2008 from a remote computer with a higher version of TeamViewer are always possible.
Can you explain why and help if possible.
PS. When I tried to work on this problem again today on two of my laptops with V14 installed I found that the software auto updated to 15.2.2756 with no notice (one W7 and one W10). Thus I stopped and have posted this issue for the Community.
