how can i still be connected after the remote computer has restarted?

Would you please to update TeamViewer version to the latest version on both local and remote devices.
It's possible that one of the devices is not able to communicate with our servers. Thus, please restart TeamViewer on both devices and try again.
Also, check out if your firewall is blocking incoming and outgoing connections. You can find which ports TeamViewer uses from here.
