I have gotten a device from a friend and can't log in or update cause I don't know the administrator log in it does take me to the login to team viewer.com but doesn't let me do anything..?

In this case, it requires you have admin rights to access the device.
If you don't have the admin account credential but your friend does, we would recommend reaching out to the friend who gave the laptop to you.
