I gave access for someone to connect to my device and now they have added me to their account and can see when I log in.
How do I remove myself from their account?
Hello @Tom664
Thank you for your post, and welcome to the TeamViewer community!
It is possible to hide online status for both TeamViewer ID and Account. As you mentioned logging in, I will start with your account.
When another user attempts to adds your TeamViewer account to their Computers & Contacts list, a contact request email is sent to you.
You also receive a notification in your app regarding the request:
If you do not accept this request, your account will simply appear offline to the other user, regardless of your actual online status.
That being said, you can still prevent those whose Computers & Contacts list you are already in from seeing your status.
Access the TeamViewer settings via the Gear icon (⚙) in the upper right corner. Navigate to Account, then check the box for Only partners in my list may see my online status.
For your TeamViewer ID, you can find a similar option in the Advanced settings; Hide online status for this TeamViewer ID, under Advanced Settings for Computers & Contacts.
I hope this helps! Let us know if there is anything else we can elaborate more on.
Hi Josh,
Yes I probably did accept their contact request. I thought it was so they could connect to me. I never used team viewer before this for outside assistance. Just to connect to my other computers remotely once in a blue moon.
I already had this option ticked
Only partners in my list may see my online status.
and don't have them as a contact.
I wasn't even aware they knew I was online until they made a comment about it.
I have also now ticked
Hide online status for this TeamViewer ID
But this is a workaround at best.
1. I'm not not able to see if my device is on or not. I use this to remind me if I have left it on and then I can log in and remotely shut it down.
2. IF it works as it appears the first option that should work doesn't...
Is there a way to change ID or view/delete settings about who has access to you?
And is it whenever I log into team viewer or is it just when that PC logs in...
Thank you for the clarification.
To answer your last question (at least I hope this answers it!):
A TeamViewer ID appears online when the application is open and running, showing Ready to Connect in the bottom
A TeamViewer account appears online when the account is logged into the application or Management Console.
In order to better understand the overall situation however, and more importantly your concern, may I ask about the specific concern of the other user seeing your online status?
Another user adding your account or ID to their Computers & Contacts list does not provide them any additional access to your device or account; that said I could see two potential reasons a user would wish to not appear in another users Computers & Contacts list:
Could you let me know if one of these are your concern, or if there is another concern I may have missed? This will help me find the better solution for you.
Thanks in advance!
Privacy!
I'd just rather them not knowing when I'm home or when ìm on my computer.
I'd like to remove them from being able to see me. What can I do on my end that doesn't block me from seeing me aswell.
Thanks for the clarification, @Tom664!
I 100% understand not wanting others to know when you are online!
I would like to run a few things by some team members regarding this - I will return here as soon as I can with more information as soon as I can!
Thanks Josh
