TeamViewer app was suggested to me because I asked the google app community if there was an app to control a philips smart tv when away from the house i.e. a tv remote control app that did not require being on the home network to work, but could be used from anywhere via the internet.

I simply want to be able to have the tv go to something like Netflix when I turn it on from afar (using Nexxt smart plug and Nexxt smart app).

PS sorry for the lack of knowledge I have, as said I only found TV Viewer as it was suggested and I know NOTHING about it.

Hi @JeanK Thank you for your reply.

My goal is to be able to remotely turn the TV on via a Nexxt Smart Plug and when it is turned on have it actually show something (like Netflix) instead of timing out and the screen going dark. It is for security at our house in the southern zone of Costa Rica while we are away (we live mostly 4 hours north). With the Nexxt smart plug I can have the TV turn on while we are away but without something showing it times out and goes to sleep, defeating the purpose.

I will look for the TeamViewer host on available apps on the TV.
