Cannot activate TFA

Hi all,

I had setup TFA with Microsoft authenticator app and wanted to set it up with Authy. So I went to deactivate and now I am not able to activate the service as it says "The scanned code is not valid". I tried Authy, MS Authenticator as well as Teamviewer Remote control app. None of them could activate the TFA.

Do you I need to ask Teamviewer support to generate a new QR code or I just need to wait for some grace period after deactivation?

This will depend on which license you are using.

Are you using a paid license or the free version?

Hi Jean,

I am using the free version. I had the TFA enabled before under the free account. So it is odd that I am not able to enable it again. I would expect that if TFA is not available for free accounts, it should be greyed out or not visible at all or at least get the prompt with need to upgrade to paid support.

TFA is also available for the free version.

Solution if you are using the free version:

You can create for free a new account: https://login.teamviewer.com/LogOn#register
If creating a new account with a different email address is not an option and you want to use this same account again, you can request the deletion of your TeamViewer account by writing an email to privacy@teamviewer.com.
Once our dedicated team deletes the account, you can create the TeamViewer with this email address.
