I am trying to install the free version and get all the way to being assigned an i.d. and a password but then get a message "your version is out of date". Can anyone help?

If you got this message, that means that you need to update TeamViewer to the latest version.
Also, you can check the compatibility of the OS version of your device and the TeamViewer version: 👉 Supported operating systems.
