Remote Viewing
TeamViewer is open and works properly on my home PC (Windows 10). I can access this PC remotely from my Ipad and another laptop however I have second laptop (Windows 7) that had worked fine in the past but recently when I log in with the home PC's TeamViewer ID and password, all is get is "TeamViewer is not running on this computer". It is running or the Ipad, etc. would not be able to remotely view the PC. No remote viewing is possible from this one laptop. Any ideas?

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community!
I would recommend restarting the TeamViewer service from your second laptop and try the connection to your home PC again.
You can also check to make sure that the software on your devices is on the latest version of TeamViewer.
Let me know if this helps!
All the best,
Jonathan

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the response!
You are correct that if TeamViewer is completely closed and restarted, like when the computer does the auto update, the default password will change.
To prevent from not being able to connect after the password has changed, you can set up Unattended Access on any computer that you need to connect to. This process allows you to use a personal password to connect rather than the password provided by the software.
Follow these steps to set up Unattended access:
- When you have the software open, look for Extras at the top then click Options.
- Once in Options, click on Security on the left hand side.
- In the first heading, you will see "Personal Password (for unattended access).
- Enter any password that you would like to use, then OK to save.
Now, if you want to connect to the Windows 10 machine, let's say from your laptop computer, you will enter the ID to connect like normal and when asked for the password you will enter the personal password that you have set up.
Hope this helps!
All the best,
Jonathan

Hello Jonathan,
I am using Windows 10 on my home PC and periodically it automatically downloads OS updates, installs them and restarts the computer. It is my understanding that in Windows 10 I cannot prevent the PC from doing this automatic restart. I can schedule it, but not prevent it all together. When this happens of course it closes TeamViewer and when the PC restarts the TeamViewer ID stays the same but the generated password has been changed. Now if I try to Remote View, I am unable to log on as I have no way of getting the newly generated password. Is there any way around this? How can I keep the same TeamViewer log on password? Thanks for any help you can provide,
Dave
