TeamViewer Display never initializes

Does anyone have an idea why I cannot get the display to show up?  After entering the password it just hangs with 'initializing display parameters'.

I have this problem when I try to connect to a Windows 10 laptop.  I am able to successfully connect once.  Here's the scenario:

1. I connect successfully to the remote Windows 10 lock screen.  I can enter the password and log in successfully.
2. The remote screen displays, but I have no control of the remote session.
3. I disconnect from the session.
4. Any attempt to reconnect again will result in being stuck with "Initializing display parameters".
