teamviewer gets very slow with graphics corruption

for the past few months, on newer ubuntu machines, with AMD chipsets and AMD integrated graphics, I have found repeated bad behavior

teamviewer will work normally for a few hours or days, and then, suddenly, when I login remotely, the desktop windows become very slow and laggy and the computer is unusable

I get some kind of weird shadow or corruption on the ubuntu desktop, with some kind of strange shadow around each window

I have been trying to figure out why this happens but so far have failed.. when this happens, the only solution is to get physical access to the machine and reboot it

I have tried switching off wayland, and that seems to make no difference

the tricky thing is that teamviewer might work for a few days or weeks, and then suddenly I login and this happens….

I am using the newest version of TEAMVIEWER HOST, installed today

this is on ubuntu 22, but I have also had the error on ubuntu 24

It's very strange. The symptom is that the interface gets so slow that it's impossible to use Teamviewer.

BUT — if I then go to the physical computer and use the keyboard or mouse, and then go back to my computer that I am remoting from, and close the teamviewer window, then re-open it, the problem is gone!

It's like somehow physically using the computer "clears" the problem!
