When connecting to standard user desktops via TeamViewer, any UAC elevation prompt causes the remote screen to freeze/black out completely. The local user sees the credential prompt, but we have zero visibility or control from TeamViewer. This happens even when connecting as admin using Windows Authentication.
We tried following and it always fails:
- Windows Authentication login
- Running as service
- Registry change PromptOnSecureDesktop = 0
- Full UAC disable
Impact
No remote elevation possible without disabling UAC. Forces us to walk users through credentials manually.This long-standing secure desktop issue still breaks basic remote support in 2026.Question
Has anyone found a working solution that does not require fully disabling UAC?
Looking for any current workaround, beta fix, or official timeline.
