Unable to grant accessibility permissions to Teamviewer on a mac

Having an issue getting teamviewer to run on a mac

we run through the steps described in

however, neither teamviewer (nor takecontrol) can be added to the list of allowed apps.
we click the +, select the app, click open, and then nothing happens!

Any ideas? (the account has admin rights and system preferences have been unlocked)

I recommend you to uninstall fully TeamViewer and reinstall it on your device.
