Let’s match your toolbar with the way you work! On macOS, you can now customize the TeamViewer toolbar while you are in a remote control session. So your most-used actions are exactly where you want them to be per supporter device, in your preferred order.
This means using TeamViewer in line with your work habits, and definitely less hunting through menus.
What's new?
You can now personalize the TeamViewer remote session toolbar using the native macOS customization toolbar.
Rearrange actions, hide what you don’t need, and keep your most-used features exactly where you want them. The main menus have also moved to the macOS menu bar, making commands easier to find via Help search. This update is available to all macOS users in remote control sessions.
Benefits at a glance
Faster workflows
Put your most used actions (could be Invite more participants, Refresh screen, Enable/Disable remote input or any item in the Actions menu) in front and center to reduce clicks and hide what you do not use that often, and keep the essentials visible!
Personal setup
You can configure toolbars differently for each of your outgoing devices, and they will be saved.
Smart handling for small windows
When the toolbar gets too narrow, items automatically move in sequence into the macOS menu rather than overlapping. Surely you can still reach them; they are just tucked away (like the bookmarks on your browser).
What are the impacts of using a customized toolbar on your daily work?
Adjusting your daily clicks helps you become quicker when leaving a note, locking your computer, or performing a remote reboot. You can easily access your clipboard or adjust the session view. If one of these things is not your daily concern, you can push them back and have a clearer view on your screen.
Let’s say you are supporting a user who frequently needs remote reboots, multi-monitor switching, or sending key combinations.
But you don’t really use the File transfer or the Black screen features as much.
With the new toolbar customization:
- You start the remote session on this Mac.
- Right-click on the toolbar.
- Select Customize Toolbar.
- Drag your favorite items into the toolbar. In this case, drag Remote reboot, Send key combinations, and Monitors into the top toolbar and remove the items back to the menu you don’t need. Easy to the eye!
- Click on Done.
So next time you connect from the same device, your tailored toolbar will already be there.
You can reboot, send shortcuts, and switch screens in just one click, so no time is spent looking for actions, no confusion.
OR
You often connect from your Mac to the same test device for routine checks. Each connection usually involves:
- System information to quickly confirm hardware or OS details
- File transfer to pull logs
- Session recording for quality assurance
So you know the flow.
With the new customization feature, you can add the System Information, File Transfer, and Session recording to the toolbar. And you can move the Chat a bit further away because you do not need it as often.
Next time you connect, everything is already set up. Your reorder matches your usual troubleshooting steps. Just a streamlined workflow that mirrors your routine.
Try it out!
Available now for all macOS users with any license in remote control sessions!
- Go ahead and start a remote control session to test it!
- Then, expand the toolbar, make sure all actions are visible.
- Right-click on the toolbar and choose Customize Toolbar.
- Play around with the icons! Drag and reorder the actions within the toolbar.
- Done! The setup is saved for this device, so each remote machine can have its own layout.
