If my employer purchases the Single User license on a device in the office, can I connect to that from my home computer? Or will it require that I have a license on the connecting device?

The single user Business license is for use by one person.
As you would be a second user, you would need to upgrade the license to a multi-user license or purchase an additional Business license.
