Teamviewer chat window missing feature

I recently tried to use teamviewer for a private collaboration with a friend and noticed that I cannot copy ANYTHING out of the chat window from our connection.
I had the linux client, he had a macos client.
On the macos client it was working.
How is it possible?
Was it just forgotten to permit text selection from the chat window?
I use chat windows mainly to exchange URLs. Its a nuisance having to open another communication channel to be able to do that.
I could see the message but not select it with a cursor. Thats odd!
