Why does my laptop slow down when I connect to my home PC with TeamViewer?

I'm usually out of the city for work, so I use Team viewer to access my home PC remotely. The setup is simple, my family shares the team viewer ID and password with me, I connect, and it works fine… for a while. But here’s the weird part: even though I have a fast internet connection and a pretty solid laptop (Core i7 9th gen), my laptop starts getting sluggish after connecting. After some time, the connection drops completely.
Is this something to do with TeamViewer settings, or could it be my home PC’s side causing the lag? Any tips to keep the connection stable and smooth would be awesome

There are some troubleshooting steps we can take to make sure you have a stable connection. Let's check them:

We would suggest you to check for the updates of your operating system and your network drivers.
Have you updated TeamViewer on both devices? If not, here is our page to guide you through: Update TeamViewer
Have you checked if your home PC is running a lot of background tasks? This can affect the remote performance. Additionally, it will help if you close the unnecessary apps before the remote session starts.
