User Groups with custmaccess

We have the requirement that not all users in our company profile should have access to all computers. I would make user groups and then add to this groups the computers that they can use. Additionally I would be able to activate or deactivate the access from each group to the computers.
LogMeIn has this functionality. I wish this for TeamViewer also.

Re: User Groups with custmaccess

Hi SwissPower,

Thanks for your post!

I am happy to inform you that you do have the ability to decide to which groups of computers your users will have access.

All you would need to do is create groups in your contacts list and then share them only with those users who are supposed to be able to access the computers in question. This means that groups will only show up in the contacts lists of users with whom you have shared the groups. You can of course also withdraw a shared group at any given moment if need be.

In order to share groups with a user, please select the user in the User management, click on the small gearwheel icon and select “Edit user”. In the “Shares” tab, you can choose which groups you would like to share with the user account in question.

When you share a group, you will also be asked to select which rights the user is going to have regarding that group. There are three different levels available: Read-only, Read/Write and Full Control.

Read-only: the users with whom you shared the group will be able to see all the computers in that group and establish remote control connections to them

Read/Write: this includes anything included in “Read-only” as well as adding new computers to the group

Full Control: this includes anything included in “Read/Write” as well as deleting computers from the group and sharing the group with other users.

I hope this information was helpful!

All the best,

Katharina

Re: User Groups with custmaccess

HI, Katharina!
I would like to klnow if it's possible to share an individual PC with a user, the same way you would share a grouo?
You see, in our setup, I have some 60 users (Franchisers) that need o access only the computers of their own franchise so to use group share I would need to create a lot of groups with only one computer in them.
Thanks,
Rafael Bullrich

Re: User Groups with custmaccess

Hi rbullrich,

Thank you for your post!

It is unfortunately not possible at present to share individual computers. The only way of accomplishing this would be to create a group with only one PC in it, just like you mentioned.

I agree that such a feature could be handy to many users, which is why I have forwarded it to our product management. You are also welcome to post your request on our "Ideas" board. That way, other Community members can vote on it as well.

Thank you for your suggestion and have a good weekend!

All the best,

Katharina

Re: User Groups with custmaccess

This would be very helpful. For example, we have a computer that is shared between two teams. I'd rather not create a separate group for the one computer but rather just give individual access to that one.

Also, if computers could be part of multile groups, that would accomplish the same thing.
