Need to know remote personal password to assign

If I try to assign a policy to a remote pc in Management Console (corporate license) I am asked to insert personal password of remote pc. It will be assigned also to my account.

In this case I need to change the personal password for that pc with one that I know, make the assignment and after this I need to ask the user to insert again his personal password..

There is no other way to make the assignment REMOTE?

Also, in Management Console if I choose a pc Properties I can see a field named "Password". What is doing this password? Because is not personal password that I need to make the assignment.

If the Personal Password for Unattended Access is not known by the person attempting Account Assignment via the Management Console, or there is no Personal Password for Unattended Access set up on the device: It is not possible to assign the device to your account via the Management Console. Only manual assignment via the device's TeamViewer settings is possible at this point.

If the Personal Password is known but the account assignment fails: This is usually a device- or account-specific issue; support needs more information in order to understand the issue. If it is an unsupported OS or version, then the assignment may also have to be done via the device in the TeamViewer General settings.

Regarding your recent support experience, as you can see in our supported OS page, as well as this recent announcement, Windows 7 is still supported. Only Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 are no longer actively serviced, by neither TeamViewer or Microsoft

Due to this, I would still recommend reaching out to support directly for device-specific support, as we are unable to resolve device- or account-specific issues here in the Community.

True, but I am the Admin and I'm looking for the best solution to assign a pc using ONLY Management console..
Again, I want to use only Management Console, not to connect to every pc.

Regarding the support team.. if you have a call with tech support and explain about a situation regarding personal password (even if I know the personal password and I succesfully connect with it on remote pc (windows 7), but when I try to assign using the same password, the program is telling that the password is wrong), the tech support is telling he cannot help because the version 15.5 is installed on Windows 7 (no more support)... what is your feeling about the support team? 😥

In regards to your questions:

If there is no personal password set for the device, the assignment can only be done on the device itself, in the TeamViewer General settings
We never recommend asking anyone to share passwords. If you do not know the personal password for the device the best option is to connect to the device to manually assign it to your account (as mentioned above, in the general settings on the device)
You would only add a personal password to the device property settings if you knew the password used to access that device when unattended. Otherwise, you would leave it blank.

The above is really focused for assignment of individual devices. Regarding mass assignment of devices, I would recommend reaching out to our support teams as they may have more insight to alternative solutions - I hope the above helps clarify the basics at least 😅

If there is NO personal password on remote computer, what password should I use in case I remotely requesting to manage and assign the device to my account? If there is no personal password, I don't want to insert one. Only the pc user will insert/change this.
If the personal password exist (inserted by the user that is working from home), I need to ask the user for the password and eventually after assignment to ask again to change that password? Uff..
If I set a Personal Password for Unattended Access on the field in the device properties, should be the same like the personal password inserted by user... and I don't know it.

I'm the Network Admin (using Management Console) and I want to assign all pc's to my account to be possible to enforce some policies and I want to do this remotely. But because of this issue regarding personal passwords.. I can't do the job.

Can you fix this?

Thanks for your post.

Account Assignment is a manual process normally done on the remote device itself, in the General settings. The Management Console also offers the ability to assign a device remotely, if you are unable to get to a device at the moment.

For security, if you are remotely requesting to manage and assign the device to your account, verification that you are allowed to access the device is required, hence the personal password request.

Alternatively, you can simply connect to the device, go to the General TeamViewer settings, and assign the device to your account - this only requires you entering your TeamViewer credentials, as seen in the steps in the above link.

Lastly, the field in the device properties for password is used for connections. If you set a Personal Password for Unattended Access to a specific device, you can save the password in the device properties so that when you make a connection to the device it does not prompt you for the password. This cannot be used with the Random displayed password.
