Is there any documentation about setting up your home network for remote access to one computer from the outside? We are non-commercial.
Last spring, my son finished his college semester at home, and then was stuck here for most of the summer. He spent his time learning to use a 3d imaging program called Dragonfly. We set up my old work computer, which has some good graphics capabilities, and operated it from the living room. RDP interferes with the graphics processor, so we used Teamviewer.
Now my son is back up at school, and would like to keep practicing with Dragonfly on our home computer. I talked with the Verizon folks, and the helped me set up port forwarding on the router. Now what do I do? I have been working from home for a year now, and I don't have any way to test remote access to the computer. (Or do I?) I use RDP to connect to my computer at the university. Can I set Teamviewer up on that machine, and test access over RDP? I really would like to hand my son a complete recipe on how to reach our home workstation from his college location, and I'd like to test it first.
Thanks
Paul
