Permanent Teamviewer connection for almost blind man in nursing home

Hello Everyone,

Just today I put Teamviewer on my 89-year-old father's laptop in his nursing home and it ran well while I was there. But when I tried to connect to him at my home, I couldn't do so with the message being either " no internet or Teamviewer not running".

As the Nursing home always has internet it must have been that I didn't leave Teamviewer running on his computer. He is almost blind and cannot turn on the laptop himself, so I have the laptop running all the time and just turn it on and off when I visit. As lockdown due to Covid has been on, I can only visit weekly at present.

So can I start Teamviewer on his PC and leave it running all the time?

Any other suggestions for this situation would be most welcome. Hope this question has not been covered already but as I was born when Dad was still a teenager, I am pretty old myself so need help.

For security concerns, we wouldn't recommend leaving both TeamViewer and the computer running all the time. Please check our security handbook.

However, if it is necessary, we highly recommend some setup on the remote device (the device locates in a nursing home ) in advance in order to increase the security.

1.Using easy access and assign your TeamViewer account on your dad's device.

This setting allows a remote session without passwords as long as you are using the same TeamViewer account credentials for both sign-in on the local device and account assignment on the remote device. Therefore, you can disable password settings.

For Easy Access settings, the account assignment is required, so please input your TeamViewer account credential in the settings: Three line menu( ≡) --> Extras -> Options --> General ---> Account assignment

After the account assignment, please check the box for easy access. You will find that under Three line menu( ≡) --> Extras --> Options --> Security --> Grant Easy Access.

2.Disable the random password on the dad's device.

You can find this setting under Three line menu( ≡) --> Extras --> Options --> Security --> Random password, select Disable

3.Set the password on the TeamViewer option setting itself.

This setting prevents unintentional setting changes, and also limited access to the TeamViewer settings on the device.

For this setting, please go to Three line menu( ≡) --> Extras --> Options --> Advance -> TeamViewer options and set the password.
