How to recover ability to transfer files

I have the free version on my surface pro and my desktop computer.

Until yesterday I was able to easily transfer files between them but now when I select transfer, I cannot get the files on either or both computers to appear so there is nothing to select on either side. If I double click C:\ other drives show up but no folders within them. I need a fix or advice. Thanks in advance.

I might have found the solution. If I maximize the windows in the transfer screen, all the files appear but I would never have found this if not for clicking everything visible. Must be an easier way. Version 15.27?
